I have a really fond memory of Sun. When I was 16 y/o I registered on their page because I wanted a free copy of their OS. I never imagined they would actually deliver it to a third world country in the corners of the earth. Maybe three weeks or a month later the postman arrived asking for my name and I was even a little scared because why would I receive a letter? I totally forgot about the registration. When I opened the package it was a copy of Sun Solaris. I treasure it to this day lol. F*** you Oracle.

I sent my 5 user netware 2.0 license that I dumpster dove, in to NetWare and they upgraded me to the 25 user NetWare 4.11 small business edition. It was crazy that I had a 3c503 card needed to install 2.0 to be able to get the license file. Of course after i reported a bug in 4.0 it was one of the 6 critical bugs fixed in 4.11. if you ever see a NW 4.0 in the wild, user templates are users...with no passwords.

... mmm yah no i tried it myself by importing the original someone ELSE recompiled it to windows 7 and 8 about 2 years later. always verify your file creation times

Given that it was originally a 16bit game ported to 32 bit then ported to 64 bit plus the various versions for compatibility, something may have been messed up along the way.

Interesting! I've installed both SLS (1.0.4) and Debian slink a few years ago on a 486. SLS (1.0.3) has been my first Linux distro back in 1993, followed by years with S.U.S.E. (which I hated) until discovering Caldera OpenLinux in 1999 (which was a relief). After a time with Windows as my main OS in 2008 I switched to Kubuntu. Back to the topic: My user experience with SLS was, that it took ages to configure everything, get X up and running, fix errors of the distro and built software from scratch, that wasn't in the original distro. To make matters worse updating to 1.0.4 required a new install. I learned a lot and don't regret it, but the overall experience was 3 out of 10. Debian slink on the other hand was easy to install and get running as I remember. Only thing I had to do manually was adding the DOS boot to LILO, installing a copy of StarOffice and building sshd from scratch. There even still was a working repository. That's at least 8 out of 10 for 1999. I didn't have the problem with setting up the mouse as I used a serial mouse. And I didn't have problems with bandwidth using apt as this was around 2016 or so and I already had broadband. In 1999 I would have dealt with ISDN as I have to admit. That would have been only slightly faster than 56k modems.

Ive seen that "Dont send" prompt after a game crash WAY too many times in my life. Its embedded in our memories because we were having fun in game, or just installed long awaited game and this is the conclusion to our hype. Click on "Dont send" and feel unsatisfied.

32 bit programs can run on 64 bit Windows BTW, as well as on 32 bit Windows of course. 64 bit Windows can not run 16 bit programs though, and Windows 32 bit can run 16 bit and 32 bit programs but not 64 bit programs.

Hi NCommander, thanks for sharing. I remember not long ago, I saw a video about a person who rebuilt several RAM modules and tested them for fun. There I learned that there were basically two types of RAM in the 90s. These consist of EDO and FPM or fast page mode RAM modules. Both are incompatible with each other, so maybe in your case these two different types of RAM were mixed together. It seems that the computer you are using uses EDO modules.
